RTL is a leading German-language entertainment and general television channel, widely recognized and highly popular in Germany. With its diverse programming lineup, RTL caters to a broad audience, making it one of the most-watched channels in the country.

Originally launched as RTL Plus and later renamed RTL Television, RTL is a free-to-air channel owned by the RTL Group. Based in Cologne, it began as the German-language extension of Radio Luxemburg and has grown into Germany's largest private television network. The channel employs around 500 people and relies on external providers for its news and technical operations.

In September 2021, the channel underwent a rebranding as part of a larger transformation of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland (RTL Germany Media Group), which was renamed RTL Deutschland. Along with the name change, the group and the channel adopted fresh branding and new logos to align with their updated identity.
